Message from H.E. the Governor

ric todd governor of Turks & Caicos

HE Todd’s message for the National Chamber of Commerce – Nov 2012

The Turks & Caicos Islands is a great place in which to do business.  The economy of our 40 islands and cays is the envy of many other nations around the world.  How many of them can presently boast a 4.3% increase in GDP in 2011?  And we are still growing.

Specialist medical school provider GU-Med is building a new facility.  Many international brands see Turks & Caicos as their next destination.  And why not?  Our hotel and tourism sector grew by 22.7% last year.

Local firms are investing here also:  some $25m is being invested in our main hub airport in Providenciales; French firm Rubis has invested $20m; Caribbean communications giant Digicel $8m; the island’s largest private employer Beaches, has reinvested $4m in its business.  We have recently welcomed a new $10m Chevrolet dealership.

And at the end of the day, the world leading resorts of the Turks & Caicos, such as Amanyara, Parrot Cay and Grace Bay Resort make Turks & Caicos a great place to take t easy in too.

The Turks & Caicos Islands are ‘beautiful by nature’ and known for the warmth and friendliness of their people.  And with under a three hour flying time from Boston, 350 days of sunshine and temperature in the mid-80′s all year round and the US dollar as our currency, there is no reason not to try the Turks & Caicos Islands.

We look forward to your visit.

His Excellency Damian Roderic Todd
